Key aims of the forum
- To work with Joint Planning Agencies to develop and support Joint Planning Structures.
- To improve communication and consultation process between agencies, users and carers, and community and voluntary groups.
- Inform and consult with users, carers, community and voluntary groups of the Joint Future Agenda and the development of community care services.
- To become an independent organisation over the next two years.
- Improve the Forum’s profile throughout the whole of North Ayrshire.
Membership/management structure
North Ayrshire Community Care Forum was established in May 2000, and has grown from strength to strength. We have a wider membership of over 200 consisting of community and voluntary groups, individuals, users, carers, local statutory agencies and national agencies. The Management Committee consists of 15 members with reps from all of the above. The forum is presently supported by a member of Social Services staff, although we aim to obtain funding this year to employ a dedicated worker.
Key achievements of 2004/2005
- Launched our own Community Care Forum website.
- Produced a resource directory for older people within one area of North Ayrshire. Four other areas awaiting completion and printing.
- Acquired a seat on the Joint Community Care Board for North Ayrshire, which is the decision making group for the Local Partnership Agreements.
Focus of work 2005/2006
- Produce and launch the 4 remaining Resource Directories, which will then cover the whole of North Ayrshire, for Older people.
- Improve the Consultation and Communication process with regards to Community Care.
- Continue to work in close partnership with all Community Care Planning agencies.
- Raise community care issues with appropriate agencies and respond effectively.
- Inform community and voluntary groups and users and carers of future developments within community care.
- Improve the Forum’s profile throughout the whole of North Ayrshire.
- Employ a dedicated ‘Resource Worker’ for the Forum.
- Plan towards becoming a totally independent organisation over the coming few years.

- Following successful networking day on Direct Payments (approx 50 people) – planned follow up event on Single Shared Assessment cancelled due to poor response.
